ridiculous! amazing! other adjectives indicating good things!

genius product designer hafsteinn juliusson came up with the idea to combine horticulture and jewelry. my mind is blown. his growable pieces will set you back some serious euros, and you've got to take super good care of them (i.e. the water bottle), but you'll be the envy of everyone in town. ps...don't try to punch anyone with the knuckles...i don't think it'll have the same traditional effects.

coco avant chanel

i am beyond excited for this movie to hit the US september 25th. in the first place, audrey tautou can do no wrong as far as i'm concerned. in the second place, chanel's story is absolutely ridiculous...since this is coco before chanel, i am curious to see how far the film goes into her life. i read her biography a couple of years ago and she was absolutely delusional, and as a result, absolutely fantastique. but then again, that seems like a pretty standard trait in the fashion industry. here's the trailer, check it out. and i can actually understand like two words of it now from my french lessons! mad progress, mad progress. like i understood when they said 'what is your name?' and also the word fenetre...that means window. i don't know what context it's in, but who cares?

tavi is the coolest

why is this 13 year old so much cooler than i can ever hope to be? actually, why are most people cooler than i can ever hope to be? i blame genetics. anyways, if you don't know who she is, tavi is, like i said, this super cool 13 year old who is mad obsessed with fashion. she knows her shit. she also has an impressively large vocabulary. she also is a fellow believer that sounds can be legitimate forms of adjectives. here is the link to her blog, and check her out on vimeo for some of her vlog entries. she's a real person, i'm not making her up. so cool. she's invited to my birthday party fo' realz.

*ps, i totally bought the space girl t-shirt she has in her sidebar. it hasn't arrived yet...in fact, i'm beginning to doubt it's ever going to get here. but when and/or if it does, i'm going to wear it for like three weeks straight to make up for lost time.

you're a fucking bogan!

has anyone ever called you a bogan? they probably have, they just might've used a different word. bogan means white trash in australian, and they use it a shit ton on australia's next top model, my new favorite show. it totally kicks america's next top model's ass...they can say lots more stuff on tv, like one chick said 'fuck!' when she fell at the end of the runway. all of the girls are also crazy and are really mean to each other. and then cassi, who i'm currently trying to score a phone interview with for byt, is absolutely the best bogan ever. she's been smoking since she was ten years old (she's sixteen now), has a snaggletooth, and has a serious anger management problem. when she's not threatening to rip people's heads off, she's punching walls. seriously, you've got to watch it, i can't stop. here's a clip:

you can watch all the episodes (like i've done) on youtube by searching for australia's next top model cycle five. it's literally the best thing i've ever seen. i think a lot of it has to do with their funny accents. and the fact that my arch nemesis tyra banks isn't the host.

zapatillas huija

so i realize i have an unhealthy obsession with my hi-tops (the one pictured above is similar, but mine are a brighter, almost neon, pattern of awayo fabric) that i bought from huija when i was in argentina...i never understood why people would rob someone of his/her shoes, or resort to violence over someone stepping on their own kicks. but now i get it. i go to great lengths to keep them clean, thus defeating the very purpose of shoes, which is eventually to mess them up. i only wear them on days when there is slim to no chance of inclimate weather, and if someone even THINKS of treading over my feet while i wear them, i shoot them with mind bullets before they can carry out their sick and twisted plan. but enough about MY shoes, which are infinitely better than yours. go check out the new collection from designer mariana marrari, creator of huija (granted it's their winter down there) and i'm sure you'll fall in love like i have. and then maybe next time you see me you'll remember not to eff with my footwear.

old greg comes to life!

erin, you blinded us with the mystery that is your flashlight mangina...

everlasting friendship between phil the mangina and erin, aka old greg

mk as a mermaid, erin as old greg and alex as howard moon slash illegal migrant worker...

this has been the longest week of my life, partially due to erin and phil's friendship extravaganza. the theme for the grand finale was an old greg party (a denison favorite) which was a big success. erin pulled off the look quite nicely if i do say so myself. perhaps she should consider it for her next job interview. it would be a big hit in the fishing industry; i'm sure they're hurting for the lack of scaley man-fishes. she found herself asking many questions like, "do you love me?", "whatcha doin' in mah waters" and "have you ever drunk bailey's from a shoe?" her ensemble is fashion-forward, consisting of a white jacket, pink tutu, white gogo boots, and green face, fruit punch lips, and seaweed hair. and let's not forget the mangina, which was constructed by pinning a flashlight in-between her legs. (marc jacobs, do i sense a daring new line for fall 2009?) i dressed for the theme as black lake, the home of greg's place, and included the ss howard moon, our dear friend old greg (yes i do know what you got), and a bottle of baileys, all floating in the black abyss of my favorite black t-shirt dress (another complot purchase). the night wound down at the bar where brian, bartender extraordinaire, gifted me the worst drink ever created (on the house, of course). deemed very appropriately a "fuzzy brain" (yes, it looked like a brain floating in a glass), it consisted of bailey's and whiskey. one sip made me want to vomitar (spanish for vom, a great word if i do say so myself). let's hope it doesn't become a staple on the menu, yeah? i think alex, mk and i may have ended up in greg's place by the end of the night, or a close representation of it anyway. i'm glad this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. i don't think i could handle two. perhaps one day i will devote a collection of watercolors to the event. but at present i simply have no time for such creative endeavors (as howard moon says, i'm a (wo)man about town). so anyways, congrats to erin and phil on some heartfelt (or not so much) words exchanged and the solidifying of a life-long friendship through humiliation and awkward situations.
