throw back...

so ever since school has stopped and my real life has not started, my friends and i have found ourselves with more free time than we know what to do with. so, i've been scouring the internets to find television shows worthy of my mindless watching. anybody remember rich girls? so so so so so so so good. the youtube quality is not so fantastique, but what can you do? pour vous (i think it should just continue into the next video since it's a playlist, but otherwise look it up. it's worth the hassle.):

livin' in the land of the lost

scariest and most awesome show of all time. now that they're doing the new movie version, i figure maybe people will FINALLY believe me that it WAS a show. i've tried to describe it numerous times to people, and all i ever get is a blank stare or the suggestion that maybe i made it all up. false. how could i invent such a complex and amazing television program? plz enjoy the intro...ps, does anyone remember the episode where the purple moon makes all the dinos and prehistoric creatures go crazy? that was terrifying. the monkey is terrifying, too. not just in that episode, but always. if i saw him i would run away.

troop beverly hillz

we're the girls from beverly hills, shopping is our greatest thrill. spoken like pros. it gave girl scouts everywhere hope that maybe, just maybe, one day shelley long would sweep in and fashionista-fy their troop. i know my girl scout troop sucked, which is probably why i stayed in it for about a year in third grade. my troop leaders were not unlike the hated velda, only unfortunately no one was there to shut them down and force them to work at kmart. instead we were stuck earning badges the lame way, including the horseback riding badge, which for some reason involved camping in hell for a night. first of all, it was about twenty below zero (i'm exagerrating, but not much...), we were forced to stay in cabins that even lincoln would've frowned upon, we had to eat food cooked on a sterno stove which was prepared by the middle school girl scouts (at least two issues here...why would anyone think it was a good idea to allow middle schoolers to cook food for others, and why would anyone think it would be okay to stay in girl scouts past elementary school???), and mostly me and the other normals cried the entire trip wishing we were at home watching nickelodeon and playing with our dogs. anyways, here's the first part of troop beverly hills. i highly recommend it, esp. if you have the swine flu like i do. and for the rest of the parts, here are the links, respectively: part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, part 7, part 8, part 9, part 10, part 11, part 12.

lohan being cool about fiiiiiire safetehhh

check out lindsay lohan doing a psa back in the day! i wonder what seymour smoke would say if he saw how many cigs she smoked on a daily basis. surprisingly, the sound he makes when there's smoke is less annoying than the sound he makes when he's talking...perhaps this taught linds that where there's smoke, there's no gilbert gottfried. and i'd also just like to say that if your child tells you that a smoke detector named seymour smoke told them about the wonders of fire safety, you've probably got a carbon monoxide leak, not a fire.

we be from the planet funkotron

ahhh the wonders of sega genesis. i almost broke down and bought a console when i was in argentina as there are many floating around the ferias, but toejam and earl was the deal breaker for me. yes, i may have found sonic the hedgehog and aladdin, but after a painstaking and unsuccessful search for the original tj&e i just couldn't bring myself to do it. what an amazing game...so pointless, so fun. the elevator jamz were the best, and who could forget the seizure-inducing neon backgrounds? in case you've opted (for whatever unacceptable reason) to not watch the video above, i will give you a play-by-play of the dialogue between three-legged blinged out toejam and borderline morbidly obese earl, who appear to be based on a loose representation of george and lennie from of mice and men:

tj: greetings. my name is toejam, and this here is my bro big rappin' earl. (here we see the stereotypical alien use of 'greetings' as a convo starter)
earl: yo, wha'sup. (nice one earl)
tj: earl and myself are highly funky aliens from outer space. (really? why would you refer to yourselves as aliens? even if i had crash-landed on a planet, i would never consider myself an alien.)
earl: outerspace. (such a simple man, earl.)
tj: more specifically, we are from the planet funkotron. (best planet name EVER. if for some reason i one day rule the world, i will officially change earth's name to this.)
earl: funkotron! (whoa whoa whoa there big fella, don't get too excited!)
tj: thank you, earl. (toejam's sassy side) check this out (i think i will)--this is our highly funkly, ultra cool, righteous rapmaster rocketship (nice use of aliteration.) notice the megawatt speakers (oh i have...ultimate jamming capabilities.) with which earl and i have been known to crank out some extremely funky tunes. (i believe it.) crank it earl! (earl proceeds to crank it.) recently we ran into a small problem.
earl: problem. (i don't know if earl is confirming what tj has just stated, or whether he is baffled by the meaning of the word.)
tj: we were cruisin' in our rocket, thumpin' out to a funky beat, (naturally) when big earl said he'd like a shot in the driver's seat...(fatal mistake, toejam, fatal mistake.) you should never let earl drive. (duh.) yo, so here we are, chillin' out on the most insane planet (which looks like earth, by the way) in the galaxy, planet earth! (this is most definitely not planet earth.) thanks to earl...all we have to do now, is find the 10 pieces of our rocketship, and we can jet outta here. no problem. (um, yes, big problem. you are stoner aliens looking for your ship scattered around a foreign planet. it's like a more extreme version of 'dude, where's my car?'. and why you wanna be jettin' outta here if it's the most insane planet in the galaxizzle?)
earl: no problem. (this just confirms that you have a very very big problem on your hands. lucky for you i am here to help you.)

i repeat, best game ever. here's a track inspired by sega called megadrive by me gusta.

creepy 90's tv intros

let's do! ps i really actually want this...anyways, on the 90's note i'd just like to say that the main reason i'm excited for caroline's visit is so that we can complete the long-talked-about project of making a 90's sitcom intro. don't know what i'm talking about? well, have you ever watched the likes of full house, step by step, or family matters? if not, i'd just like to say "how rude". during the infamous intros, all the characters are doing something like reading a book, or in michelle's case, playing with comet the dog, and then suddenly they creepily look up and smile as if to say, "oh, hello america, i didn't see you there!". i don't know what my random action will be yet, but i can tell you it's going to be good, it's going to be 90's, and it's going to be creepy.
