little red royksopp

i like this a lot lot lot. it's like the royksopp music video for remind me, but it's to the story of little red riding hood.

aaand if you need a pick-me-up...

...then listen to sugar town by nancy sinatra. short and sweet and fabfabfab.

bluegrass roots

so even though the title of this post may be slightly misleading, because i'm not sure all of slash any of these songs really fall into the bluegrass category, i'm going to put up some links to some non-robot music i've been "jamming" out to the past few days. they're all folk inspired anyway.

little lies-anna ternheim
wizard flurry home-mariee sioux
the devil had a hold of me-gillian welch
undertaker-the moondoggies
the rifle-alela diane
the lakes of canada-the innocence mission
the lakes of canada-sufjan stevens cover
take us back-alela diane
buried in teeth-mariee sioux

lovejuicelovejuicelovejuice

i love love juice by symbolone (tv danger remix), thanks to liebe-bebe. it's quality beatz fo sho. i suggest you give it a listen. right. now. the only question i have is, is it juice made of love, or is it love for juice?

listen to this

really digging this song by bon iver...woods sounds totally different from what i'm used to hearing from them. while most of their stuff is indie-folk, this feels sort of like a hybrid of 808s and heartbreak vs. imogen heap.

could it be MORE bsc?!?

the answer is yes. yes it could. i would just like to give you the links to these two blogs, which are entitled what claudia wore and claudia's room. i think we can now ascertain that everyone liked claudia the best, and we can assume that everyone hated mallory the most. read this blog entry from what claudia wore, it's super great...
photographic evidence of mallory's misfortune and claudia's fierceness:

<----judgment (it's ok bc it's claudia)
<----agression towards red hair

<----indifference/acceptance (pathetic)

<----entertained by mal's imperfections

populous

italian producer populous makes really abstract electronica. check out "man overboard" if you're in the mood to zone. i really like his shirt, by the way...

what are you talkingggah about?

plz enjoy this parody of the hills...it's pretty spot-on. i watched the city last night for like the second time ever. i dunno if anyone else has noticed this, but the hills, laguna beach, all of these shows, spend over half the time with no dialogue, which has been replaced by a "sweet" soundtrack in the background (maybe they really are living up to being 'music' television). we get a lot of shots of street signs and nighttime traffic to fill up a quarter of the show, and then we spend another quarter staring at whitney and her friends staring at each other, looking surprised/angry/annoyed/and/or/sad, for a solid 5-10 minutes at a time. i think they're running out of script ideas. the real question here is, why do i bother to keep watching?

viva el delfin

this is not a joke! this is a PINK albino dolphin that was spotted by a fisherman. lisa frank, are you getting this?? okay that's all i wanted to say. ps i just realized that perez already talked about this today, but let's hope not everyone is a faithful reader of the hilton.

a little less robot convo

so i realize i've been a little heavy on the electro, and i know that not everyone's big into that. sooo i've decided to put up some trax that aren't so robotesque. it's like the softer side of sears or something. and so here we are:

classical/instrumental:
white night-ludovico einaudi
le matin-yann tiersen
partida del leprosario-gustavo santaolalla
peer pressure-jon brion
comptine d'un autre été-yann tiersen

other ones:
the lord god bird-sufjan stevens
chicago (acoustic version)-sufjan stevens
soul meets body (cover)-rose polenzani
scythian empires-andrew bird
green arrow-yo la tengo
let's get out of this country-camera obscura
funny shadow-age pryor and tessa rain
gila-beach house
coutances-dick annegarn
you love me-devotchka
your rocky spine-great lake swimmers
girls just want to have fun-greg laswell
let's dance-m. ward
why do you let me stay here?-she and him

the double header of all double headers

i'm getting super excited for chicago the weekend of april 10th. planning to go to crystal castles on friday, and then deadmau5 and crookers on saturday, which makes me feel slightly better about missing ultra music fest. it's going to be the bomb dot com or whatever. if you're not familiar with these people, i feel sorry for you. to help familiarize you with their supah soundz, i'm posting some tracks below.

more bsc plz

as i sit here in fellows, watching alex watch the babysitters club special christmas on youtube (above), i realize that i can still squeeze in a little more bsc discussion before this weekend is over. so i think the main thing that i want to talk about is stacey and her diabetes. during the christmas special, she over-indulges (slash stuffs her face) with about a thousand christmas cookies, candy canes, and brownies. i think it was the brownie that finally did her in. her broken record response when the other babysitters comment on the potential dangers of this behavior is "c'mon, guys, it's christmas!" well, stacey, i hate to break it to you, but diabetes doesn't take a vacation. moral of the story is that stacey is a loser and not as cool as claudia and now we know that if you have diabetes you shouldn't eat all that stuff or you'll end up in the hospital on christmas. srsly.

*ps, i'm seriously considering making shirts with stacey's face on them that say "diabetes doesn't take a vacation". if you want one, let me know. this could be big.
